Theater

Angie's Peter Rabbit play was tonight. There will be film, but I can't guarantee that you will actually understand what is being said or sung if you haven't read the script.

It was very cute, Angie made two of the radishes you can see on the stage and she is very proud of them.

Her favorite part of the evening: when she and the other bunnies played "Chase Mr. McGregor" after the play ended.

My favorite parts:
1. Watching Angie add physical movement to add expression to the songs.
2. Seeing the look on Chas's face when he heard the lines "I don't like rabbits, but I like rabbit pie" sung enthusiastically by twenty kindergarteners.

Ummm. Happy New Year

Angie made this calendar for us. It's, umm, a very dramatic snow man don't you think?

IF you are wondering, that red bit is the scarf.

We hope you have a wonderful new year.

In which Angie owns the Stage

She had been aching for her turn since the first asembly in late September. Actually, at the family night before school started in the fall, Angie climbed on stage, put both hands on the podium and looked out at the crowd happily. Even though we had been practicing together since September (and this was her fourth favorite thing), I was still impressed at her confidence as she strode to the podium and pulled the microphone closer.

We are so proud.

Fall Festival Fun

Angi's school had a fall festival last night.

Imagine a crowded, noisy gymnasium, filled with games of chance and skill. Then visualize a tiny girl in a Supergirl costume, racing from game to game for the sheer thrill of victory (she has the arms in a "v" above the head gesture down to an art). She fished, tossed footballs, beanbags and pumpkins. There was a golf game which resulted in a hole in one (assisted by her Dad who was intent on teaching her how to swing properly--she's never too young to prepare for a scholarship). There was a duck pond with ducks, whales and beavers. She amazed some of the middle school boys running the games by actually tossing a football through a bicycle tire after playing catch with him for the first few tosses.

She earned lots of cheap plastic consolation prizes and special blue tickets which could purchase better prizes.

She did the cakewalk twice before I reminded her that she doesn't like cake.

Then she did it again for the joy of dancing exuberantly in a circle then dashing for a chair.

The night ended with a bag of popcorn and a run through a maze in the dark.

Angie loved every second of it. She's already planning for next year's festival.

First Day of School Observations

"But I can't get up Mommy. It's still night!"

"And do you know what they have at Kindergarten? Pretzels!"
