The grandpas would be proud

We had chicken with bones tonight. Chas cut the meat off the bone and gave it to Angie. She found a small piece of bone in her meat and gave it to me, "You can have the bone Mommy." I suggested that we put it in the trash and said, "Bye-bye bone."

Angie sat at the table and said, "Bone appetit trash can!"

No I'm not kidding.

A Bonding Moment

We attended a new student orientation at Angie's school tonight. We met her teacher and saw the classroom--complete with a blue bin with Angie's name on it. The kids were allowed to explore the room and play with things until the ice cream social started.

I'm thrilled because there are ten students in Angie's class: seven boys and three girls.

A cute little boy named Aiden came in with his mom and baby brother. Aiden has long white-blond curls which are clearly too beautiful to cut. He ran straight to the Legos and began building a city. Angie found her way over there and supplemented his construction with tall towers made from wooden building blocks. She informed everyone that they were building the state of Ohio. They were busy, busy, busy.

Suddenly, Angie cried out, "Can we build it?!!" Aiden paused, then shouted, "Yes we can!"

Angie looked thoroughly pleased.

They ran around the big kids playground together with Evan, another child in their class looking for bad guys. I heard Aiden call them to action, "Come on Superheroes! Let's go find the bad guys!" And they were off.

Chas turned to me early in the evening and said, "I have to watch him, don't I?

Kian's Appointment

The cardiologist is pleased with the sound of Kian's heart--the stenosis has not returned yet. He had a few smiles for the octor, even though he didn't like being poked and prodded.

He is a big guy weighing in at over 16 pounds now and he is 24 and a half inches long.

We go to the regular pediatrician on Monday.

Back to School Blues

This post is not about me being sad that my little girl starts Kindergarten in a few weeks. I'm excited for her to go on this adventure, though I'm sure i'll be a little teary eyed on the first day.

This post is not about Angie not wanting to go to school. She's so excited she can hardly sit still.

No, this post is about shopping for Angie's school things.

We only needed to purchase some glue and crayons in the typical school supply area. However, we needed things like swim gear, a backpack, flip-flops, etc.

Chas determined that she needed a new raincoat. Which one did Angie choose? The one with blue and green flowers. She also got the matching hat and umbrella. She wanted the matching boots, but Chas drew the line at the umbrella.

What color did Angie select for her backpack? Cobalt blue. Chas and I had a good chuckle at the sight of angie walking around wearing a 17 inch backpack. We purchased the "junior" size instead.

What was the color of the swim gear bag selected by Angie? Navy blue.

What was the color of the only pair of flip-flops in Angie's size? Blue.

Her current favorite color is blue, if you couldn't guess.

Her favorite color usually changes with the seasons. She starts with orange in the fall, changing to purple then green in winter and spring.

The love of blue this year came from Eve, our neighbor's granddaughter woh visits every summer. Blue is Eve's favorite color. Angie asked me one day, "Mommy, do big girls like blue?" I said, "Well they like all sorts of colors: red, pink, purple, orange, green or blue."

I think blue may be here to stay.
