Only Seven Days

On Saturday I wondered how long the tooth would wobble before it finally fell out.

The answer: Precisely seven days.

Angie stayed home from school today because she had coughed for most of the night. One of her classmates had strep throat so we decided to take her to the Doctor to be certain she only had a cold. While at the doctor's office, Chas and I both noticed the tooth was sticking in a new and exciting direction. The initial strep tests were fine and we brought her home, still coughing, to take a nap.

After the nap, the tooth was all but completely sideways. She wobbled it for a few more minutes before she proudly declared it was free!

We all admired the tooth and Angie was quite proud. Then would put the tooth away so we wouldn't lose it and Kian wouldn't find it an put it in his mouth.

The tooth was safely placed in the tooth fairy pocket and Angie went to sleep very excited at the events of the day.

I'm glad to say that the tooth fairy has retrieved the tooth, taken to the Hall of Perfect Teeth and left a nice note and some treasure for Angie.

Have an Audience, Will Perform

Angie's class had a field trip to the Fine Arts Association today. They saw "The Jungle Book" and later some dancers from China and Korea. She adored the dancing and wants to be a Chinese dancer when she grows up.

She practiced the various dances seen today (sleeve dance, handkerchief dance, umbrella dance) for Kian and I.

For the first time that I've ever seen, Kian clapped enthusiastically for his sister. I cheered for them both.

Theater

Angie's Peter Rabbit play was tonight. There will be film, but I can't guarantee that you will actually understand what is being said or sung if you haven't read the script.

It was very cute, Angie made two of the radishes you can see on the stage and she is very proud of them.

Her favorite part of the evening: when she and the other bunnies played "Chase Mr. McGregor" after the play ended.

My favorite parts:
1. Watching Angie add physical movement to add expression to the songs.
2. Seeing the look on Chas's face when he heard the lines "I don't like rabbits, but I like rabbit pie" sung enthusiastically by twenty kindergarteners.

Two Steps

Tonight, Kian took two steps toward me without holding on to something for support. Angie and Chas missed it completely, but he did this twice in one night.

He was very pleased to dive on my lap when he reached me. I can't tell you how thrilled I was.

We Have an Actual Wobbly Tooth

Angie and I went on a little adventure today. I had to have some blood drawn for some routine tests early this morning. Angie woke up early too, startled me as I thought I was the only one up and we decided she would go with me.

While eating her bagel in the car, she started complaining that her mouth hurt. When we arrived at the lab, I saw a genuine wobbly tooth! We both were very excited.

We had a very nice morning. Angie and I read a magazine together in the waiting room then she held my hand to help me be brave while my blood was drawn. We took a longer way home rather than hitting the highway and enjoyed the ride. At her request, I bought her an apple so that she could try to lose her tooth in the way Lola did (from Charlie and Lola). Fortunately she didn't eat it--everything else bothered her tooth so much when she ate that I shudder to think how a crunchy apple would feel.

Now I am desperately trying to stitch the pocket of her tooth fairy pillow on the fabric in time.
