Sushi and Caribou

We did some shopping today. I needed a new purse, Chas needed a new Coffee press. Angie suggested that she wanted to stay home, but we decided it was best if she came with us.

Our first stop was T.J. Maxx. While I looked at purses, Chas and Angie went to the kids section. When I finished, I watched Angie while he looked for his press. Angie and I read books and looked at some of the toys. I found a nice Animal puzzle by Melissa and Doug--she loves animals and puzzles so it is perfect. She strolled to the end of the aisle and found abox of toy food--sushi to be exact.

I explained that it was sushi.

A tiny voice firmly and enthusiastically stated, "Must take sushi home with us!"

I looked at her and said, "Seriously?"

"Yes!"

In went the sushi. Chas returned with a tea kettle saw the sushi and suggested we put it back. I said Angie really wanted it and she chimed in, "Must take sushi home!"

He accepted defeat. He did prevent me from getting the dim sum.

We went to World Market where she used tubes of wrapping paper as a spying scope and played a large drum. My friend Cathy posted wondering if people actually buy those things--Angie would love it if we did. He uncle Scott is convinced she is a percussionist.

Then we headed to Old Navy to use Chas's gift card. Angie was thoroughly sick of being in the stroller and it showed. She adamantly rejected two pink turtleneck shirts with lettuce edging. At the register she was completely despairing. She told the cashier, "I can't do anything!" She had said the same thing to the nice lady at T.J. Maxx.

To relax, we went to Caribou Coffee so that Chas and I could get a caffeine fix and a snack. Chas ordered while Angie and I picked a table. Angie wanted to march and she found an area near the restrooms with a child sized table, some bear stools to sit upon and a nice chalkboard. Since she wanted to stay there, I moved our coats to the kids table. Chas and I drank our coffee (Espresso for him, White Chocolate Mocha for me!) and watched Angie playwith the chalk. She made handprints on the chalkboard, drew bananas and doodled. The kids section had a stuffed Moose head and a stuffed bear (not real) head mounted on boards for that lodge look. Angie pulled on the bear head trying to rescue him. She had a wonderful time.

This evening, Angie insisted on opening the sushi right away. Angie and I have played with the sushi, laying out the differnt pieces. It is a nice little set. The serving pieces are beautiful blues with matching chop sticks. Angie really enjoyed nibbling on the foods and drinking tea (okay I was drinking pretend saki). It even comes with a little soy sauce bottle and a dish in which to "pour" the sauce. Angie loves dipping the food into the poured sauce. Very cute.
